Dawn Anderson is the principal of As It Stands, a full-service architectural firm specializing in accessible design and construction in the built environment. The firm serves public entities and private clientele throughout California and the United States.
Ms. Anderson performs accessibility scoping studies, design reviews and inspections of new and existing commercial and residential properties as well as improved outdoor spaces and historic landmarks. Dawn regularly prepares reports, transition plans, and legal findings as a subject matter expert for accessibility-related casework.
With over 30 years of professional experience, the firm’s insights on construction contracts, codes and regulations, and emerging technologies combine to form an integrated approach for assessment and remediation of complicated environmental conditions.
Dawn participates nationally in the development of the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Accessible and Useable Building and Facilities, and the ASME A17 Elevator Code and is the technical lead for the ASTM Standards for Accessible Property Condition Assessments. She has served on California’s Division of State Architect Advisory Code Task Force, the Commission on Disabled Access, and the Building Standards Commission Access Subcommittee.
Dawn is a certified Accessibility Specialist in California (CASp) and is an ICC Accessibility Plan Reviewer and Inspector, Combination Inspector, and Inspector of Record for healthcare facilities.
She speaks regularly on the application of accessibility law and regulations and best business practices to incorporate accessibility and reduce risk.
