Jade A. Ragoschke, Assoc. AIA,

Vice President, 2020-2022

Based in New York City, Jade is an Associate Architect at EME Consulting Engineers where she specializes in the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) design for New York City Public Schools.  She hopes that by understanding the limitations of ADA guidelines, architects can find new solutions to create an inclusive environment through multi-sensory design paradigms.  She graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture degree from New York Institute of Technology where she now participates as a thesis and design juror each semester.

Jade has had a long term interest in civic architecture stemming from her involvement in Parkour. Parkour is a movement self-discipline that focuses on traversing the urban environment from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible using the human body.  Jade has been involved with multiple Parkour communities since 2008 when she first started training.  After becoming a certified Parkour trainer in 2013, Jade began advocating for playgrounds dedicated to teenagers and adults.  She believes that people of all ages should have a designated space to express creative movement and play.

She discovered her passion in designing for people with disabilities during her thesis project when she created a cultural center for the Deaf and Blind.  The center provided an opportunity for people to experience sensory-deprivation and stimulation as a way to simulate various disabilities as well as provide education about Deaf and Blind culture. She argues that focusing in the public realm of architecture will provide the most valuable improvements to the quality of space for people with disabilities.

Jade is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and participates on the Emerging New York Architects committee.  Since May 2018, Jade was accepted into the AIA New York “Civic Leadership Program” where she collaborates with nine other architects to explore unique ways architects can become civically-minded leaders within the profession.
